The major Netflix hit Adolescence sparked a fierce debate about the dark side of social media in the lives of youth everywhere, back when the show premiered in March this year.

Now, the director behind the viral series has revealed that the story about a troubled teenage boy turned delinquent eventually resonated even among many celebrity parents, one of whom was the global pop icon Adele.

During his appearance at the Royal Television Society, director Philip Barantini revealed that Adele sent him “handwritten letters” about how his show significantly impacted her relationship with her son, 12-year-old Angelo James Konecki.

“I mean, just like saying that she had watched it with her son, and it has changed their relationship,” he revealed.

Additionally, the British director and producer also went on to highlight that he received messages on Instagram “from all over the world” regarding the show’s success and influence.

“That, for me, has blown my mind a little bit,” he admitted.

Apart from Adele, Steven Spielberg was another famous name which the show’s maker dropped during his recent masterclass.

Meanwhile, Adele shares her son with ex-husband Simon Konecki, a non-profit CEO with whom she was married from 2018 till the conclusion of her divorce, in 2021.

The former couple had been together since way before they ever tied the knot, while Adele welcomed their son in October 2012.
