Patrick Mahomes' father jailed for alleged probation violation
Former pro baseball player admitted to third DUI charge in August 2024
Patrick Mahomes Sr. has been taken into custody following an alleged breach of probation, as per several reports.
On Tuesday (February 3), the 55-year-old parent of NFL player Patrick Mahomes, 30, was jailed in the Smith County Jail in Texas for purportedly drinking alcohol, according to Smith County District Attorney Jacob Putman told KLTV.
Mahomes Sr.'s alcohol monitoring device purportedly registered a high amount on Jan. 1. He consequently underwent two urine tests, one on January 5 and another on January 9.
Both allegedly showed negative results at that time, TMZ reported, referencing court documents.
A motion has been submitted to dismiss the violation, and Mahomes Sr. can contest the accusations, according to CBS 19.
His probation originates from his third DWI arrest in February 2024. At the time, his blood alcohol concentration was 0.23 when stopped by law enforcement in Tyler, Texas.
The arrest occurred only eight days before his son and the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in that year's Super Bowl.
The following August, the ex-professional baseball player admitted to the DWI charge and accepted a probation period of five years plus one year of "intense supervision," as reported by local news outlet KETK.
If confirmed guilty of breaking his parole, Mahomes Sr. may be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison, according to CBS 19.
A hearing date has not yet been appointed for Mahomes Sr., as indicated by the Kansas City Star.
