The Young and the Restless has announced a long-awaited reunion, as Shemar Moore and Vivica A. Fox are set to return to Genoa City this spring for a storyline three decades in the making.

CBS confirmed on Feb. 17 that Shemar Moore will reprise his role as Malcolm Winters in a multi-episode arc beginning in April.

Joining him is Vivica A. Fox, who will return as Dr. Stephanie Simmons for the first time since 1995.

According to the network, Moore and Fox begin taping on Feb. 17, with Malcolm and Stephanie’s unexpected reappearance set to bring “shocking and lasting implications” for the residents of Genoa City.

Moore, 55, portrayed Malcolm from 1994 to 2005, establishing the character as a central figure and the half-brother of Neil Winters, played by the late Kristoff St. John.

Since his exit, Moore has returned multiple times, including in 2014, 2019 and most recently in 2023 for the show’s 50th anniversary tribute to St. John. During that episode, Malcolm appeared before Neil’s portrait and declared, “When it came to the great Neil Winters, I show up. Whatever it takes.”

Fox, 61, originally appeared on the soap for a one-year stint, during which her character shared a romance with Malcolm.

The relationship ultimately ended as Stephanie left town, and it remains unclear whether the two reconnected off-screen.

Malcolm was single during his most recent appearance, leaving open the possibility of unfinished business.

For Fox, the series marked a pivotal chapter in her career.

While starring on the daytime drama, she auditioned for the 1996 blockbuster Independence Day, a role she has said she nearly lost due to being labeled a “soap opera” actress. After multiple callbacks, she secured the part, launching a successful film career.
