Following the positive reception of her movie Bodies Bodies Bodies, writer Sarah DeLappe has been chosen to write the screenplay for 3000 Pictures’ Single Female, featuring Jenna Ortega and Taylor Russell in the lead roles in this remake of the 1990s commercial success Single White Female.
According to insiders, Stacey Sher and Marisa Paiva will join Ortega and Russell as producers on the project.
The 1992 original starred Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh and centered around a woman who grows increasingly wary of the suspicious and dark happenings involving her new roommate.
This movie not only became an unexpected success but also catapulted its star actresses to fame.
With DeLappe's addition as the screenwriter, it becomes evident that the studio is treating this remake as an important project.
Sher is well-experienced in producing major films, having worked on credits such as Contagion and the award-nominated Django Unchained.
She recently produced the horror thriller Heretic with A24. For Paiva, this marks her initial significant producing endeavor after a lengthy career as a reputable studio executive.
DeLappe is a renowned playwright and screenplay writer, celebrated for her exploration of young women's relationships.
She scripted the well-acclaimed 2022 A24 horror comedy Bodies Bodies Bodies, achieving both critical acclaim and box office success.
Her play The Wolves won the American Playwriting Foundation’s first Relentless Award and was a contender for the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. She is represented by CAA, Entertainment 360, and Schreck Rose.
Ortega stars as Wednesday Addams in the Netflix series Wednesday, directed by Tim Burton.
