Prime Video Germany and Leonine ink multi-year film pact
Prime Video in Germany and Austria has secured a multi-year agreement with Leonine Studios
Prime Video in Germany and Austria has entered a long-term agreement with Leonine Studios for films including The Housemaid, The Drama and The Hunger Games – Sunrise on the Reaping.
Through this agreement, amid a growing trend of collaborations between streaming platforms and local players such as Leonine, the Amazon streaming service will acquire all films from Leonine's theater-based releases with release dates starting January 1, 2026.
This will also include six months of exclusive SVoD rights within the pay 2 window, along with other library titles.
The arrangement features major Hollywood successes like The Housemaid, The Drama starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, and The Hunger Games – Sunrise on the Reaping.
It will also bring German productions from Leonine such as Ein Fast Perfekter Antrag.
The library selections include Asterix and Obelix, The Expendables and John Wick. The two have previously collaborated on projects including the docuseries Brabus: One Second Wow.
Leonine CEO Fred Kogel stated: “We are thrilled to extend our long-standing, fruitful partnership with such an esteemed entity as Prime Video in the upcoming years. This deal, featuring our current blockbuster The Housemaid as the inaugural film, highlights the exceptional quality of our programming and the trust Prime Video consistently places in us as a premier content provider.”
Leonine, part of Mediawan, is involved in producing and distributing shows and owns entities like Beetz Brothers and Wiedemann & Berg Film.
In recent months, streamers have increasingly partnered with major local entities, including a Prime Video agreement with France Télévisions and, in Germany, Disney+’s collaboration with ZDF.
