Tencent surpasses 2025 revenue estimates with boosted AI investment
The tech giant announced that its core business resources are fueling its growing AI investments
Tencent reported annual revenue that slightly exceeded analyst expectations, underscoring the company’s growing focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud services.
For 2025, Tencent posted total revenue of CNY 751.8 billion (approximately $109 billion), surpassing forecasts of CNY 750.7 billion, according to data compiled by LSEG.
The company attributed its performance to strong growth across key segments, particularly driven by AI enhancements.
Tencent said improved AI capabilities boosted advertising efficiency and user engagement across its gaming platforms, which remain its primary source of revenue.
At the same time, its cloud division recorded solid growth and continued to move toward greater profitability.
“Our stable and cash-generating core businesses allow us to invest in expanding AI capabilities, including talent acquisition and infrastructure development,” the company said in a statement.
While gaming continues to dominate Tencent’s earnings, the company is increasingly diversifying into cloud computing and other emerging technologies.
As part of this strategy, Tencent plans to expand its cloud services footprint in Europe by 2025.
Earlier this year, executives also signaled intentions to grow data center operations in the Middle East.
However, it remains unclear whether those plans will be affected by ongoing regional tensions.
The results highlight Tencent’s broader push to position itself as a leader in AI-driven services while strengthening its global cloud presence.
