First look at 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' reveals forgotten Peter Parker and new threats
Jon Bernthal returns as Punisher, setting up a tense showdown with 'Spider-Man'
Tom Holland returns as Spider-Man, but in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, nobody remembers him, not even his closest friends.
Marvel Studios released the first trailer for the fourth entry in Holland’s Spider-Man series on Wednesday, March 18.
The film, hitting theaters on July 31, 2026, reunites Holland with his real-life fiancée Zendaya, who reprises her role as Michelle “M.J.” Jones, alongside Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds and Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan.
Picking up after the shocking events of 2021’s No Way Home, Peter Parker is navigating a world where everyone he loves has forgotten him.
In a voiceover, Peter explained: “Hi, my name is Peter Parker. You don’t remember me, but we used to know each other.
Something bad was going to happen, and the only way to stop it was to make everyone forget about me. Because I’m not just Peter Parker, I’m Spider-Man.”
The trailer shows Peter struggling with his superhero abilities, failing to shoot webs while hanging upside down, and facing the harsh reality that M.J. now has a new boyfriend.
Even Bruce Banner, played by Mark Ruffalo, doesn’t remember Peter when he seeks advice.
Fans also get a first look at returning villains and antiheroes. Michael Mando reprises his role as Scorpion, while Jon Bernthal returns as the Punisher, setting up a tense showdown with Spider-Man.
The trailer balances action with humor and heart. In one scene, Peter gives M.J. a bouquet, calling it a “housewarming gift” and joking, “I’m just a neighbor from across the hall.” M.J. responds, “Friendly neighbor,” leaving Peter choking on his drink.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), the film introduces new cast members including Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Marvin Jones III.
Production included a scare for Holland, who sustained a mild concussion in England in September 2025 but has since recovered.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, two weeks after Holland and Zendaya reunite on screen in The Odyssey, opening July 17.
