Miley Cyrus revives iconic Disney intro for 'Hannah Montana' special
Disney+ celebrates 'Hannah Montana's' 20th anniversary with a special event
Miley Cyrus has recreated her Disney Channel introduction ahead of the upcoming Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special.
Cyrus, now 33, released a new video where she relives a famous Disney Channel promo saying, "I'm Miley Cyrus from Hannah Montana, and you're watching Disney Channel."
The beloved Disney Channel series that catapulted Cyrus into fame celebrates its 20th anniversary, and Disney+ is marking the milestone with a new special.
The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special premieres on Tuesday (March 24), taking a nostalgic glance at the series with "never-before-seen archival footage," a chat with Cyrus, and an interview featuring Call Her Daddy's Alex Cooper, plus much more.
The special's trailer displays Cyrus donning the character's famous blonde wig as she steps onto the show's recreated sets, highlighting Miley Stewart's secret life as pop sensation Hannah Montana.
"The emotions are already flowing," Cyrus remarks while shown wandering the hallways of Seaview High School, where Stewart studied.
In the preview, Cyrus—dressed as Montana—dances alongside her father, Billy Ray Cyrus (who portrayed her show dad, Robby Ray Stewart) and flips through photo albums with her mother, Tish Cyrus.
During her talk with Variety, Cyrus confirmed that the celebration will feature a guest appearance by Selena Gomez, acknowledging Cooper's encouragement to include an old friend.
Cyrus also shared her feelings about revisiting Hannah Montana's music, such as singing "Best of Both Worlds" again, which she hadn't done since 2008, noting it took only three rehearsals to reconnect with the song.
"It felt just like riding a bike. The dancers tried new things, and I'm like, ‘That's not how we did it!’ " she laughed. "And they said, 'We’re modernising it.' I replied, 'If it's not broken, don't fix it!' "
