Ivanna Lisette Ortiz faces attempted murder charge after Rihanna shooting

Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, a thirty-five-year-old woman from Florida, has been formally charged with attempted murder following a violent incident at the Los Angeles residence of the singer Rihanna.

Prosecutors allege that on 8 March 2026, Ortiz used an AR-15-style rifle to fire approximately twenty rounds into the property.

At the time of the attack, Rihanna and her partner, A$AP Rocky, were reportedly inside an Airstream trailer on the grounds, while their three young children and several staff members were in the main house.

The suspect was apprehended at a local shopping centre following a brief pursuit. Ortiz faces one count of attempted murder, ten counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and three counts of shooting at an occupied dwelling.

During a recent court appearance, Ortiz pleaded "not guilty" to all charges while appearing behind glass in the custody area.

This plea follows a previous attempt to enter a plea on 11 March, which was subsequently withdrawn.

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has denied a request for bail reduction, maintaining the bond at $1,875,000.

Investigators are currently scrutinising Ortiz’s social media history, which includes a February Facebook post directed at Rihanna containing hostile remarks.

Additionally, a video surfaced showing Ortiz addressing the rapper Cardi B while wearing a disguise. If convicted on all felony counts, Ortiz could face a sentence of life in state prison.

The case continues as the defendant recently waived her right to a speedy preliminary hearing. This incident adds to a history of security concerns for the Grammy-winning artist.
