Why Kris Jenner's profile pictures dominate Chinese social media

People worldwide are apparently keeping up with Kris Jenner.

Notably, individuals on social media in China are currently sharing pictures of the entrepreneur as part of a trend to pray to her for success, prosperity, and good fortune.

According to Business Insider, the hashtag #krisjenner has accumulated 52.9 million views on platforms such as RedNote. Users are even changing their profile pictures to images of Jenner.

Chinese influencer Marcelo Wang took to TikTok on Friday to explain what’s behind this unexpected meme.

TikToker Marcelo Wang explained that the trend has become popular “because Kris Jenner is one of the hardest-working businesswomen in the US, and Chinese people really respect hard work.”

He informed viewers that the “super random” trend has gained traction “because Kris Jenner is one of the hardest-working businesswomen in the US, and the Chinese really value hard work.”

“Dressing up like Kris Jenner is a humorous Gen Z-style way to wish for success,” Wang continued.

Jenner herself responded beneath his post, “You’re ALL doing amazing, sweetie!!!!” — borrowing her famous line from “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.”

In a follow-up video, Wang elaborated on how “this trend has escalated to a whole new level.”

“Dressing up like Kris Jenner is a humorous Gen Z-style way to wish for success,” Wang explained.

“Chinese Gen Z are not just using Kris Jenner as a profile picture, but she is featured on all our iPhone, iPad wallpapers, laptops … quite literally everywhere,” he remarked.

He mentioned that students are using the reality star's image to “wish” for acing their exams and even graduating from college.

Popular AI images of Jenner used in the trend show the media mogul enjoying ramen, sipping tea, riding a bicycle, wearing graduation attire, and snapping selfies in China.

“She’s present everywhere, helping Chinese Gen Z manifest good luck,” Wang added.

China seems to have selected the right celebrity if gauging manifestation powers purely on success. Jenner’s 2025 net worth has been estimated between $170 million and over $200 million, according to several reports.

A significant portion of the matriarch’s wealth comes from managing her children — Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian Barker, Khloé Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, and Rob Kardashian — as well as their successful businesses.
