Riz Ahmed’s dark secret unveiled in ‘Saturday Night Live UK’ teaser sketch

Riz Ahmed harbors a shocking secret in the debut sketch from his stint as host of Saturday Night Live UK.

As the sketch kicks off, the actor from Bait and Hamlet is seen grooving under disco lights in his dressing room, when SNL UK cast members George Fouracres and Ayoade Bamgboye stop by to greet him.

“Apologies for the loud music, folks, I’m just thrilled to be hosting with you all,” says an enthusiastic Ahmed. “Want a candy?”

Bamgboye takes a candy with pleasure, while Fouracres comments on the ambiance, “Such a delightful mood you’ve set here,” adding, “I assumed you'd be all intense!” alluding to Ahmed’s serious acting demeanor.

“Well, the only ‘intense’ moment for me... is when I'm camping with my niece and nephew during summer,” jokes Ahmed, eliciting laughter from his SNL pals.

The atmosphere shifts quickly when Fouracres suggests discussing both having played Hamlet. Ahmed stops the music and insists he’s unfamiliar with the renowned Shakespeare’s Globe theatre.

Confused, Bamgboye asks, “You’ve portrayed Hamlet but never heard of Shakespeare?” As the tension rises, Ahmed replies, “Ummmmm… no. I didn't just act Hamlet. I embodied him.”

“What, did you really go on a vengeance campaign in real life to avenge your father’s death?” queries Fouracres.

Ahmed places a finger on his lips, flashes a mischievous grin, and says “No,” while snapping his small candy box shut before Bamgboye can take more. He reverts to party mode, saying, “Looking forward to having a blast with you guys,” as he resumes dancing and the sketch concludes.

The ensemble cast for SNL UK includes Fouracres, Bamgboye, Hammed Animashaun, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi, and Paddy Young.
