Initial career aspirations of Jamie Lee Curtis focused on police work
Actress Jamie Lee Curtis marks her upcoming career milestone with a heartfelt social update
Jamie Lee Curtis has marked an extraordinary milestone in her professional life, celebrating nearly fifty years within the entertainment industry.
On Monday, the Freaky Friday star took to her Instagram account to reflect on a career that began with a humble role as an unnamed waitress in a 1977 episode of Columbo.
Sharing a throwback image from her days as a contract player at Universal Pictures alongside a contemporary portrait, the Oscar-winning actress admitted that her path to stardom was entirely unexpected.
"Next year, I will [have] been an actress for 50 years," Curtis wrote in a candid caption. "I was never going to be an actor. I thought I'd be a cop."
The actress emphasised that her longevity in Hollywood resulted from focusing on one job at a time rather than looking too far into the future.
"There was no future tripping. It was just each job, one job at a time, grateful for any opportunity and patience. Lots of f.... patience," she added.
Now established as a producer and "HBIC," Curtis is currently collaborating with Nicole Kidman on the upcoming series Scarpetta for Prime Video.
This evolution from an uncredited extra to a leading industry power highlights her resilience and dedication to the craft.
As she enters her fifth decade on screen, fans and colleagues continue to laud her authenticity and the "pixie cut" look that has become her modern signature.
Curtis first rose to international prominence as a "scream queen" in the 1978 horror classic Halloween. Beyond her current work on Scarpetta, she is set to return to her beloved role in the highly anticipated sequel Freakier Friday, scheduled for release later this year.
