Producers of 'Jury Duty: Company Retreat' reveal uncertainty about achieving their desired series finale

How 'Jury Duty' producers crafted the Season 2 finale

The creators of "Jury Duty: Company Retreat" revealed they were unsure if the show would conclude as they hoped while producing the series.

“You’re dependent on someone who is beyond your control,” shared executive producer Anthony King with Page Six.

The second season of Prime Video’s wild prank comedy “Jury Duty” wraps up with Anthony Norman, the Season 2 “hero,” rushing into a meeting to protect his co-workers' employment.

King detailed that during the process of casting Norman, an essential question was, “Would this individual storm into a room and snatch a pen from someone’s hand?”

Even as they sensed that Anthony was someone who would “do whatever necessary” to rescue the company if he “connected” with everyone, “we weren't certain until he actually walked in.”

King identified this aspect as “both the anxiety and thrill” of creating the show.

The second season has showcased the 25-year-old temp during a company gathering for the fictional hot sauce brand, Rockin’ Grandma’s.

Norman believed the filming was for a documentary and was unaware that everyone else was an actor.

The dramatic moment came to a head in the Season 2 finale when Norman realised his “colleagues'” jobs were at risk and burst into a meeting to decisively stop the session.

Executive producer Todd Schulman told Page Six, “I’ve never been more on the edge of my seat on a film or TV set than that particular day.”

Schulman explained that if Norman hadn’t interrupted, they would have simply wrapped up and left as the show hinged on that moment.

The first season of the comedic series was launched in 2023 and followed a surprising case with an unwitting participant, Ronald Gladden, amid a cast of actors.

In the language of the show, the central character is referred to as a “hero,” because the purpose of "Jury Duty" is to highlight, not ridicule them, as producers noted.
