Cardi B is ready to lend a hand in making life easier for those who care for children in New York City.
The award-winning rapper, aged 33, is partnering with N.Y.C.'s Mayor Zohran Mamdani to help select a winner in a jingle competition celebrating the city’s new 2-K program.
Born in the Bronx, Cardi joined Mamdani, who is 34, to reveal the competition in a YouTube clip on Friday, April 3.
“Can you believe we’ve got a 34-year-old mayor? I feel like I’m a kid and you’re like running the city,” she commented to the mayor.
The mayor then inquired about her thoughts on free child care, and Cardi shared that she finds it extremely important.
“Sometimes, as women, we struggle to progress because there's no one to entrust with our children,” she clarified.
The “Please Me” rapper is the mother of four: daughters Kulture, 7, and Blossom, 18 months, and son Wave, 4, with her estranged spouse Offset, and a baby boy born in November with NFL player Stefon Diggs.
This fall, New York City is launching its first 2-K program, offering 2,000 free spots to kids from age 2 through kindergarten.
Enrollment begins in June, which is why Mamdani asked Cardi to assist in judging a citywide jingle contest to motivate families to enroll.
“Oh, I will definitely judge… I’ll judge, and he’ll provide since he’s got the funding,” Cardi stated.
The celebrity also shared about her encounter with Mamdani on Instagram Stories, stating, “Can you folks believe the mayor attended my show? And he's so young!”
