Global superstar Lady Gaga has been forced to cancel her final scheduled performance at Montreal’s Bell Centre on Monday evening due to a worsening respiratory infection.

The 16-time Grammy Award winner announced the news via her Instagram Story just hours before the show, explaining that she had been battling the illness for several days while attempting to recover in private.

"My doctor has strongly advised me not to perform today, and to be honest, I don’t think I could give you the quality of a performance today that you deserve," the singer wrote.

She expressed profound regret to the fans who had made travel arrangements, stating she was "absolutely heartbroken" to let her audience down.

Despite the setback, the Oscar winner described her previous two nights in the city as "magical and deeply meaningful."

The cancellation comes as the singer enters the final stretch of her highly successful Mayhem Ball Tour. While it remains unclear if the Montreal date will be rescheduled, the tour is currently slated to move forward with upcoming performances in Minneapolis on 9 April and 10 April.

The marathon world tour, which has seen the artist travel globally since last summer, is scheduled to conclude with a landmark fourth residency date at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on 13 April.
