Janai Norman confirms departure from 'Good Morning America'

Janai Norman, the long-standing weekend co-anchor of Good Morning America, confirmed her departure from the programme in a poignant message shared on Saturday.

Addressing her followers via Instagram, the 36-year-old journalist expressed deep sadness that her tenure was "cut short," revealing that she would not have the opportunity to deliver a final on-air farewell to her viewers.

"It has been a joy to connect with my coworkers and with viewers, to help keep you informed and entertained, and to create this community," Ms Norman stated.

While she admitted to being "heartbroken" over the abrupt nature of her exit, she emphasised the positive transition toward family life.

Having worked weekends throughout the lives of her three young children, she noted: "Now, they get more of me and that is worth everything."

The confirmation followed reports that Ms Norman’s contract with ABC News, which was originally set to expire in May, would not be renewed.

Sources indicate she had been aware of the decision since March; however, she was reportedly removed from the air ahead of schedule after news of the contract status leaked online.

Ms Norman first joined the network as an intern in 2011, eventually rising through the ranks to co-anchor World News Now and America This Morning before joining Whit Johnson and Gio Benitez on the GMA weekend desk.

During her fifteen-year career, she was instrumental in expanding the programme's Saturday broadcast. Née Kiari Cephus, the musician Offset has also experienced significant professional transitions recently.

Following the conclusion of his era with the group Migos, he released his 11-track solo project Haunted by Fame on 31 October 2025, focusing on new creative chapters.
