Violet Grohl addresses nepo baby labels ahead of debut album release
Violet Grohl credits her musical environment for nurturing her growth as a songwriter
Violet Grohl, the daughter of Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, is asserting her independence in the music industry as she prepares for the launch of her debut solo career.
Speaking to The Forty-Five ahead of her first album, Be Sweet to Me, scheduled for release on 29 May 2026, the 20-year-old singer candidly addressed the "nepo baby" discourse surrounding her rise.
"Obviously, doors are open for me because of my last name," she admitted, refusing to shy away from her heritage. "It’s not something I’m ever going to hide behind."
The musician, who has been a frequent guest performer at her father’s stadium concerts, stated that she has faced such labels since the age of 13 and has grown indifferent to the criticism.
"Call me a nepo baby all you want. It’s ‘whatever’ to me," she remarked, adding that she simply hopes the public will eventually give her a fair hearing based on her talent.
She expressed profound gratitude for the "privilege" of being raised in an environment that nurtured her artistic interests and allowed her the resources to record a professional album.
Challenging sceptics to look beyond her lineage, Grohl urged potential fans to experience her artistry first-hand. "Come see me live. Come listen to my music and then you can decide for yourself if I’m worthy of this career or not," she stated.
The young artist emphasised that music is her genuine passion and the only career path she wishes to pursue.
Following her album launch, Grohl is expected to announce a series of intimate headline dates, building on the acclaim she received for her 2023 cover of "Show Me How."
