John Legend reveals semi-finalists were his top picks from blind auditions

Multi-Grammy Award winner John Legend has demonstrated a remarkable "sixth sense" during the latest season of The Voice: Battle of Champions.

In a roundtable interview conducted on Thursday, the 47-year-old coach revealed that his three semi-finalists were the same artists he marked as his top choices following the initial blind auditions.

KJ Willis, Syd Millevoi, and Lucas West have successfully navigated the competition to represent Team Legend in the upcoming top nine.

“I just looked at my notes, and these three were my top three after the blinds, just so you know,” Legend remarked, describing the coincidence as "major."

While he admitted that contestant trajectories often shift, he noted that this particular trio possessed a "special" quality from the outset.

Legend emphasised that each singer offers a distinct contribution to the NBC programme, stating, “I couldn't have picked three better representatives for Team Legend.”

The contestants also reflected on their journey, with Syd Millevoi noting the importance of "remembering your individuality" amidst the pressures of the show.

Legend echoed this sentiment, advising his team that "being you is your superpower." The nine remaining hopefuls, including those from teams led by Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson, are now preparing for the penultimate stage of the contest.

The semi-finals are scheduled to air on 13 April, as the singers compete for the season 29 title. Legend, who joined the coaching panel in 2019, continues to balance his television commitments with his prolific career as a recording artist and producer.
