Eugene Levy becomes first fan of son Dan Levy’s new series 'Big Mistakes'
The actor reveals his parents are already hooked on his latest Netflix project
Dan Levy has stepped confidently into his post-Schitt’s Creek era, and his latest project already has a major endorsement from someone close to home.
While speaking with People at the New York City premiere of his new Netflix dark comedy Big Mistakes, the actor and creator revealed that his father, Eugene Levy, was among the first to watch the show — and quickly became a fan.
“He came all the way from Canada to support,” Levy shared, adding that both of his parents have already seen the series and are “already quoting lines from it.”
The show, which premiered on April 9, follows siblings Nicky and Morgan as they are pulled into the dangerous world of organized crime after being blackmailed.
Levy noted that the sibling dynamic at the heart of the show is deeply personal, drawing inspiration from his real-life relationship with his sister, Sarah Levy.
“We’re in a far better place now that we’re older and wiser,” he said, adding that audiences with siblings will likely recognize the mix of tension, humor and familiarity portrayed on screen.
The actor-writer explained that his goal was to authentically capture the complexities of sibling relationships — then heighten them within a crime-driven narrative.
Beyond its storyline, Big Mistakes marks a significant milestone for Levy as his first major television venture since the global success of Schitt’s Creek.
He admitted he was intentional about choosing a project that could match the passion and creative fulfillment of his previous work.
“I really wanted to make sure that the next thing I did in TV gave me that same sense of inspiration and love,” he said, praising the cast and crew for bringing the series to life.
