Transform AI prompts into repeatable 'skills' with Chrome

Google is introducing a groundbreaking Chrome workflow tool that lets you use your top Gemini commands across various sites.

AI prompts can be stored as “Skills” within the Chrome desktop browser, enabling you to execute them quickly across any tabs you choose.

“Previously, repeating an AI task — like requesting ingredient swaps to make a dish vegan — involved entering the same prompt each time you visited a new page,” explained Hafsah Ismail, Chrome product manager, in the announcement.

“To simplify this process, we’re rolling out Skills in Chrome, which allow you to save and reuse your most useful AI prompts with just one click.”

Skills will be available to Chrome users with a US English language setting starting today.

Once you can access the feature, manage it by typing a forward slash ( / ) in Gemini and clicking the compass icon.

AI prompts are saved as Skills directly from your Gemini chat history on desktop, making them accessible for reuse on any other desktop device logged into the same Google account on Chrome.

This feature aims to free Chrome users from retyping frequently used Gemini prompts manually or copying them from a saved list.

According to Google, early testers have created Skills like commands to calculate the nutritional data of online recipes and compare product features while browsing multiple tabs.

Additionally, the company is rolling out a library of pre-made Skills that you can store and use without creating your own.

These ready-made Skills can also be adapted to fit your needs better, providing a base without the necessity of building them from scratch.
