BTS' RM persuaded label to keep explicit lyrics in Jung Kook's 'Seven' collaboration

BTS' RM took a stand for Jung Kook, and it was a major success.
In a conversation with Rolling Stone for a BTS cover story published, Jung Kook opened up about his popular collaboration "Seven" with Latto and his thoughts on the song's explicit content.
"I wasn't ashamed," Jung Kook (real name Jeon Jung-kook), 28, remarked about the lyrics. "I just thought, 'Why not?'"
RM (real name Kim Nam-joon) then mentioned stepping in to defend the lyrics when label executives expressed doubt.
In the song, Jung Kook sings, "You know night after night I'll be f---in' you right, seven days a week."
"I told the company, ‘Please don't alter it! Why not? He's mature now. He can say an f-word,'" RM, 31, commented.
In October 2023, "Seven" achieved the milestone as the fastest song to hit 1 billion streams on Spotify. It also claimed the top spot on Billboard's Global 200.
In 2023, Latto discussed with PEOPLE her "unreal" experience collaborating with the BTS member on the song.
"It's been incredibly surreal to witness his fanbase's dedication — it's truly an artist's dream. I was genuinely stunned," she expressed at the time.
"I was like, 'Are you sure about choosing me?' I felt a lot of pressure, but thought, 'You know what? He reached out to me for a reason. Let me give it my all,'" the rapper added. "Seeing everyone's positive response to my part and how much they love it is so rewarding. I hope to visit Korea soon."
Elsewhere in the Rolling Stone discussion, RM disclosed that Jung Kook nearly performed solo at the 2024 Super Bowl.
"Usher invited him before his military enlistment, but it couldn't happen because of the service," he explained.
Jung Kook was unable to perform due to the start of his required military service in December 2023, alongside Jimin.
In South Korea, all able-bodied males aged 18-28 are required to serve within the military for 18 to 21 months.
