'The Days of Our Lives' and Melrose Place star passed away suddenly on Sunday morning
Patrick Muldoon, best known for his roles in Days of Our Lives and Melrose Place, has died at the age of 57 after suffering a heart attack.
The actor passed away suddenly on Sunday morning (April 19, 2026), according to multiple reports, including Deadline, which stated that his death was linked to a heart attack.
His passing comes just two days after Muldoon shared professional news on Instagram, announcing his involvement as a producer on the upcoming film Kockroach, starring Chris Hemsworth, Channing Tatum and Taron Egerton, and set to film in Australia.
In the post, Muldoon expressed excitement about the project, writing that he was “so excited to be a part of this amazing project,” tagging cast members and director Matt Ross.
Born and raised in California, Muldoon began acting during his college years, later landing early television appearances including Who’s the Boss? and a short arc on Saved by the Bell after graduating in 1991.
He rose to prominence in daytime television as Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives, a role he played from 1992 to 1995 and later reprised from 2011 to 2012.
In primetime, Muldoon became widely recognized for his role as Richard Hart on Melrose Place, where he starred from 1995 to 1996.
His film career included appearances in major projects such as Starship Troopers 1997, Stigmata 1999, Deadlock 2021, and Marlowe 2022, where he also worked behind the scenes as a producer.
In recent years, he occasionally revisited his soap roots, teasing a possible return to Days of Our Lives in a promotional video that showed him backstage on the show’s set, joking, “Oh my God, I’m in Salem! It’s good to be back.”
His final project, the film Dirty Hands, is expected to be released later this year.
Muldoon is survived by his partner, Miriam Rothbart and his parents, Deanna and Patrick Muldoon Sr.
