Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner’s $7 million demand over Ray J sex tape exposed

Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner sought $7 million from Ray J, accusing him of breaching a secret deal concerning their 2007 sex tape controversy.

The legal situation around the tape resulted in a 2023 agreement, reportedly including a non-disclosure clause preventing discussion or false statements about it.

According to the agreement, the "Kardashians" celebrities were to pay the musician — William Ray Norwood, Jr. — an enormous $6 million in parts, with the last million due in 2026.

However, documents acquired by Page Six reveal that Jenner and Kardashian criticised Ray J in a May 2025 legal document, claiming he broke the NDA and demanding he return the $5 million given thus far, plus another $1 million each.

During a 2025 livestream, Ray J, without evidence, accused the reality stars of facing a racketeering investigation.

Kardashian and Jenner retaliated by suing Ray J for defamation in October 2025, labeling his claims as "completely false," and declaring in legal documents that "no federal investigation is occurring."

Ray J filed a countersuit in November 2025. The artist argued he did not slander the popular pair and cited their remarks on "The Kardashians" as supposed evidence of them breaking the NDA.

He has consistently accused the pair of planning the tape's release — a claim they called "untrue" and "utterly false" in declarations submitted in Los Angeles last month.

A rediscovered legal letter accessed by Page Six — issued on Oct. 3, shortly after the lawsuit was started — again charged Ray J with "significantly breaking" the agreement by discussing the 2023 arrangement during an October livestream where he allegedly "revealed its existence, terms, and details."

The note from Kardashian and Jenner’s legal representatives to Ray J called for the star to "promptly return" the $5 million paid thus far, on top of $1 million "per violation," totaling $7 million.

They claimed that "all pending payment responsibilities are now void," referring to the 2023 deal, which as per the documents, was endorsed by Jenner, Kardashian, Ray J, and his mother, Sonja Norwood.

Last month, Kardashian and Jenner failed in a legal effort to maintain confidentiality of parts of the 2023 agreement with Ray J.

The duo argued that revealing the agreement's details would "cause significant damage" to their privacy.

However, Judge Steven A. Ellis stated they "provided no valid evidence" demonstrating how the publicisation of details would harm them.
