Florida mother accused of beating son after cheating allegation against her
Luna was taken into custody and booked at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center
A Florida woman has been taken into custody for repeatedly assaulting her 12-year-old son after he accused her of being unfaithful to his stepdad, the Sunshine State's law authorities said.
Lucianny Lizbeth Luna, aged 32, faces a charge of child abuse not resulting in harm, according to records from Miami-Dade County court.
The arrest occurred on Thursday after the boy reported to school officials about the injuries inflicted by his mother, according to documents related to the criminal case seen by Law&Crime.
An officer accompanied by a child protection official visited the school and noticed "a bruise with cuts on his left cheek close to his left eye." The boy informed officials the injuries happened when his mother struck him a day earlier.
"The defendant collected him from school," the document states. "She then drove him in his stepdad's car towards Gwen Cherry Park for practice. The defendant was on a call with a male who the boy believed was his mom's partner in infidelity."
The boy recounted that the drive became violent when his mother informed the man "she was taking him to the park to play," but he corrected her, saying: "I'm not playing, it's just so the coach can pick me up," as described by the Miami Police Department.
"The defendant then slapped the victim on his face with her right hand, hitting him in the middle of his face," the officer reported. "I noticed a minor bruise between his eyebrows. The defendant then grabbed his hair, pulling it, and then struck his head about eighteen to nineteen times with a small glass bottle."
The boy, nonetheless, claimed there was no head injury from the bottle, only soreness.
"The victim stated that after being hit, he was shocked and momentarily froze, and the defendant began shaking him," the document proceeds.
"The victim mentioned that when they neared his home, she tried to slash him with her keys. The victim deflected it, but the key pierced his right palm. I noted a minor cut on his right palm."
Once home, the child informed his stepfather "the defendant was speaking to the other man," police noted. The stepfather then responded with something akin to: "I'm tired of this behavior. He told the victim to go shower."
After showering, his stepfather asked him to "come back and repeat what he had previously said."
"In the middle of the victim's account, the defendant hit him on the left side of his face, causing a noteable mark close to his eye," the complaint continues. "The defendant then slammed him against the wall. The boy tried to escape, but she grabbed his towel, restraining him."
The stepfather then intervened to hold Luna back, permitting the boy to dash to his room and shut the door, the complaint states.
Via Instagram call, the boy showed his aunt his injuries and asked her to inform his grandparents to come for him.
The aunt confirmed the boy's statements, including the mark near his left eye, police indicated.
Later, police spoke to Luna regarding the altercation.
Luna was then taken into custody and booked at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
On Friday, she was released on a $5,000 bond. Court records currently do not have any hearings listed.
