Mother accused of beating 2-year-old to death, father allegedly blocked help
Robinson is in police custody and is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday
A mother and father mistreated their young child leading to his death, avoided getting him medical attention, and falsely claimed a sibling killed him, Pennsylvania officials report.
Cynthia Robinson, 34, is accused by the Delaware County District Attorney's Office of "fatally beating her 2-year-old son to death."
She is facing charges that include first-degree murder, third-degree murder, conspiracy to commit third-degree murder, four counts of child endangerment, and three counts of aggravated assault.
Frank Walton Sr., 58, allegedly "obstructed medical help to conceal the mistreatment, resulting" in the child's death, the DA's office asserts.
He faces charges of third-degree murder, conspiracy to commit third-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, and four counts of child endangerment.
The investigation dates back to November 5, 2025, on the 900 block of Butler Street in Chester. Around 11pm, Chester Police Department officers responded to a report of a "small child unresponsive and in cardiac arrest with possible head injuries."
The child was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared deceased. His death was attributed to blunt force injuries to his head and body, according to court records examined by Philadelphia CBS affiliate KYW.
The couple's other three children were present at home during the boy's passing, authorities stated. An investigation was initiated by the officers.
"Initially, Ms. Robinson accused one of her other children of causing the boy's death," stated the Delaware County District Attorney's Office. However, investigators found out that the "accounts" she provided, "particularly her other children being at fault for the child's death, were factually untrue."
As detectives looked further into the family's situation, they "discovered" that Robinson "had a pattern of mistreating her children."
She was reportedly "under supervision" for child endangerment due to "previous episodes of drug use around children."
Authorities claim that in the day leading up to the child's death, he was bleeding, and Robinson could be overheard saying, "Forget this little kid, I'm going to hit him now, I'm fed up with this little troublesome kid." She allegedly then dropped him from her waist.
"The charges in this case are both devastating and exceedingly distressing," Delaware County District Attorney Tanner Rouse stated.
"A child's life was lost at the hands of those who were meant to love, protect, and nurture them. As a father, a coach, and a Delaware County resident, I am heartbroken."
Robinson is in police custody and is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday. Walton is also in jail; during his arraignment, he was denied bail, with a preliminary hearing set for April 28.
