Kanye West announces first Indian concert scheduled for May

Kanye West, legally known as Ye, has announced his first-ever performance in India, scheduled for 23 May 2026.

The one-night-only event, titled "YE Live In India," will take place at 8:00 p.m. at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.

This announcement, made on Monday, via the artist's Instagram story, marks a significant milestone for fans in the region who have long awaited a live appearance from the 48-year-old rapper.

The upcoming concert follows a period of logistical adjustments; the performance was originally slated for 29 March but was rescheduled by organisers White Fox, Wizcraft, and Plush Entertainment.

In a statement released earlier this year, the team cited "prevailing geopolitical situations and regional tensions" as the primary reasons for the postponement, emphasising that the safety of international fans and the production crew remains a top priority. All previously purchased tickets remain valid for the new May date.

This confirmation of the Indian leg comes at a tumultuous time for the artist's global tour. Just days ago, Swiss football club FC Basel cancelled a planned performance at St. Jakob-Park, and a Polish stadium in Chorzów similarly blocked a scheduled show.

These cancellations follow a trend in Europe and the United Kingdom, where venues and authorities have voiced opposition stemming from the West’s past antisemitic comments.

In January, Ye issued a formal apology for his previous behaviour, which he attributed to untreated bipolar disorder, and explicitly renounced past expressions of admiration for Adolf Hitler.

Despite the friction in Europe, organisers in New Delhi are preparing for what they describe as a "monumental" production featuring expansive staging and cinematic visuals.
