Sydney Sweeney will not appear in the upcoming sequel to The Devil Wears Prada, despite filming a brief cameo that was initially expected to feature in the film.

Ahead of the movie’s scheduled May 1 release,sources confirmed toEntertainment Weeklythat Sweeney’s three-minute appearance was ultimately removed due to a “creative decision,” as the production team refined the film’s structure.

The actress had reportedly filmed a scene tied to the introduction of Emily Charlton, the character played by Emily Blunt, who is portrayed in the sequel as holding a senior role at Dior.

Sweeney appeared as herself, a celebrity client being styled in a sequence set at the fashion house.

The cameo was originally positioned near the beginning of the film, but the sequence was later condensed during the editing process.

According to insiders, the scene did not align structurally with the final version, leading to its removal, a decision described as difficult for the team, who nonetheless expressed appreciation for Sweeney’s involvement.

While several celebrity appearances are rumored for the sequel, Sweeney’s omission highlights how even high-profile cameos can be reshaped or cut entirely during post-production.

Despite the setback, Sweeney’s schedule remains packed. The actress continues to build momentum in Hollywood, with multiple projects in development, including upcoming film and television roles alongside the continuing success of Euphoria.
