Kate Hudson has opened up about her long-standing friendship with Matthew McConaughey, describing him as one of the most “unique” and “spontaneous” people she has ever worked with.

Speaking at the Time100 Summit at Lincoln Center in New York City on Wednesday, the actress reflected on their bond, which has developed over years of working together in Hollywood.

“Matthew is unique. He is the most unique, wonderful, spontaneous, unpredictable man I’ve ever worked with,” Hudson said, praising his lively personality and on-set energy.

She added that his competitive spirit is always positive, noting, “He’s competitive in the best ways. He is so much fun to laugh with. He’s down for anything. I love how unpredictable he is.”

Beyond his playful nature, Hudson also highlighted McConaughey’s more grounded and thoughtful side, describing him as someone who is deeply caring and introspective.

“At the same time, he’s really protective,” she said. “He cares deeply about his work, but mostly about the human condition and finding inner peace, or at least contentment. We connect on that very much.”

Hudson concluded her remarks by emphasizing the strength of their friendship, calling McConaughey “a really unique, special person.”

The pair, who have shared the screen in romantic comedies such as How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, have remained close over the years, often speaking fondly of their professional chemistry and personal connection.
