King Charles and Queen Camilla reveal new portrait after US visit

A new portrait of King Charles and Queen Camilla was revealed to celebrate the conclusion of their US state tour.

The picture, capturing the royal pair sharing a tender gaze, was snapped in the Jackson Palace sitting room at Blair House, the President's official residence across from the White House, where they stayed during their journey.

In a social media message, they wrote: "Thank you for the wonderful reception and the heartfelt support you showed us during our inaugural visit to the US as King and Queen, in this, your significant anniversary year.

"We leave a piece of our [heart emoji] here and carry some of yours with us back home. Until we meet again… God Bless America."

Together with the new portrait, a second image of Manhattan's skyline, showcasing the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building illuminated, was shared.

The four-day state visit of Charles and Camilla to the US concluded on Thursday. The pair were warmly greeted by President Donald Trump, who disclosed he will lift tariffs on Scottish whisky.

On social media, Trump expressed that though "many have wanted this for years," the King and Queen "encouraged me to achieve something no one else could."

A Buckingham Palace representative remarked: "The King has acknowledged President Trump’s thoughtful act and extends his heartfelt appreciation for a decision that will have a positive impact on the British whisky sector and the communities it aids.

"His Majesty will be toasting the president’s considerate nature and warm hospitality as he leaves the US following a delightful state visit for their majesties during this special anniversary year."

On Thursday evening, the King landed in Bermuda for a three-day royal engagement.

The King arrived at LF Wade International Airport as evening fell, with the UK Government's VIP Airbus displaying the Royal Standard and Bermuda flag from the cockpit window.

Upon his arrival, Charles was received by the Governor of Bermuda, Andrew Murdoch, and the Premier of Bermuda, David Burt, along with his wife, Kristin.

Traveling without Camilla, Charles is visiting the island for the first time as monarch. He will be honored with a grand ceremonial reception, featuring a 21-gun salute on Friday.
