Cecily Strong gives rare update on baby daughter with fiancé Jack MacGregor

Cecily Strong is embracing motherhood, sharing a heartfelt update on her one-year-old daughter and describing the experience as a daily journey of discovery.

The former Saturday Night Live star, 42, welcomed her first child on April 2, 2025, with fiancé Jack MacGregor.

Speaking to People at the Broadway opening of Schmigadoon!, Strong said she is enjoying watching her daughter grow and develop her own personality.

“I’m excited getting to know her a little more every day,” Strong said. “She just turned 1. She’s not quite talking yet, but I can’t wait to hear what she has to say.”

Strong, who left SNL in 2022 after an 11-season run as the show’s longest-serving female cast member, has largely kept her personal life private but has occasionally shared glimpses of motherhood with fans.

In a 2024 Instagram post, she reflected on her journey to parenthood through IVF, describing the experience as deeply meaningful and transformative.

Her career on SNL made her a standout performer, with memorable characters including Cathy Anne on “Weekend Update” and her impersonation of Jeanine Pirro.

Since leaving the sketch show, Strong has shifted her focus to new creative projects, including stage work.

She attended the opening of Schmigadoon! on Broadway, a stage adaptation of the Apple TV+ musical series in which she previously starred.

Speaking about the production, Strong praised the creative team and said she was excited to see the story reimagined on stage.

“I’m so happy for them,” she said. “I’m so thrilled for Cinco Paul, and Chris Gattelli is a genius. I’m ready to see it all anew and be emotional about it.”

When asked about returning to watch SNL, Strong admitted she keeps her distance, saying revisiting the show brings up strong emotions due to her long history with the cast and crew.

“It’s just such a big part of my life,” she said previously on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. “I feel like I would just be in a swamp of sadness, my heart would break.”
