Comedian and actor Eugene Mirman has shared a positive update on his recovery following a serious car crash earlier this year that left him with multiple injuries after his vehicle reportedly burst into flames.

The Bob’s Burgers star revealed that he suffered a concussion, broken ribs, and a broken wrist in the March 31 accident, which occurred after his car collided with a toll plaza and caught fire.

Speaking to Variety, Mirman said he is recovering well despite the frightening ordeal.

“I obviously went through an insane accident,” he said. “For the first few days, people didn’t know it was me. But I am doing really good.”

The 51-year-old comedian explained that while his injuries were significant, the reality of his condition was not as severe as some of the widely circulated images may have suggested.

“I was injured, but not nearly as much as probably the images that were out there in the world potentially made it seem,” he added. “So I’m doing not bad.”

Mirman also shared that he has already begun returning to normal life and recently spent time with his son, Ollie, during a visit to a Lego store for a Star Wars-themed event.

“I was just at the Lego store for ‘May the Fourth’ with my son, looking at Star Wars Legos,” he said. “So I’m back in life.”

The comedian described the incident as his first near-death experience, though he admitted he remembers very little about the crash itself.

Mirman also revealed that he has deliberately avoided looking at photographs from the accident, acknowledging that the images were likely disturbing for those who saw them.

Despite the traumatic experience, he maintained his sense of humour, joking that the ordeal may eventually become material for a future comedy special.
