Hailey Bieber reflects on emotional strain after birth of son Jack and Rhode beauty exit
The model welcomed son Jack Blues in 2024 before selling Rhode Beauty in a $1 billion deal
Hailey Bieber has opened up about feeling overwhelmed during one of the most significant years of her life, after welcoming her son Jack Blues and completing the sale of her skincare brand Rhode Beauty within a short span of time.
Speaking in a recent interview with Time on May 6, 2026, the model and entrepreneur reflected on how becoming a mother in 2024 and finalizing a major business deal in 2025 unfolded almost simultaneously, creating a period of intense personal and professional change.
“Selling my company in the first year of also having a child, there’s a lot of change happening at once,” Bieber said, describing motherhood as the biggest shift in her identity. “Becoming a mom is, so far in my life, the biggest change I’ve ever been through.”
She explained that managing both experiences at the same time made the period feel especially demanding.
“To be going through that while also going through this insane business process is just… it was really interesting for those two things to be going on in parallel,” she said. “I felt really stretched in a lot of ways.”
Bieber welcomed her son Jack Blues in August 2024 with her husband Justin Bieber. In May 2025, she sold Rhode Beauty to e.l.f. Beauty in a reported $1 billion deal, marking a major milestone for the skincare brand she launched in 2022.
Despite the pressure of balancing motherhood and business, Bieber said she now views that period as formative.
She described 2024 as a year of growth and reflection, adding that the challenges ultimately made her stronger.
“When I look back on it now, being 29 turning 30 this year, I’m like, wouldn’t have changed a thing,” she said.
“As many ups and downs as there was, as hard as it was for me to do all these major things at one time, I really feel like it strengthened me in a lot of ways.”
In a previous interview with GQ published in November 2025, Bieber also explained that the decision to sell Rhode was driven by both financial goals and finding the right long-term partner for the brand.
“I always said that I would never sell the company unless it was a billion dollars,” she said, adding that e.l.f. Beauty met her expectations for the future of the brand.
