Britney Spears misses family reunion at Jamie Lynn's daughter's graduation
Britney Spears chose not to attend her niece’s high school graduation
Britney Spears chose not to attend her niece’s high school graduation. However, her parents, sister, and son gathered for a rare family occasion at the ceremony.
As depicted in photos from the Daily Mail, the well-known family members dressed in their finest attire to commemorate 17-year-old Maddie Aldridge's significant milestone.
Britney’s father, who had his right leg amputated in 2023 due to an infection, was seen wearing a gray suit at the event, while her mother Lynne Spears, 71, opted for a cream-colored dress topped with a coordinating blazer.
Jamie Lynn, 35 — at one moment caught with tears of joy while witnessing her daughter partake in the ceremony — was dressed in a black mini dress accented with white puff sleeves.
Britney’s eldest son Sean Preston, 20 — whom she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline, alongside son Jayden James, 19 — chose a relaxed white polo for the event.
He was spotted holding up a photograph of his cousin during the graduation proceedings.
Reports mentioned that Jamie Lynn’s youngest, Ivey Watson, age 8, was seen steering her 73-year-old grandfather's wheelchair through the crowd.
Britney’s representative was unavailable for an immediate response to Page Six’s request for comment on Saturday.
This infrequent coming together occurs amidst some chaos for Britney, who earlier this month admitted guilt to a lesser charge regarding her DUI case after her March 4 arrest.
The pop star, now 44, accepted a "wet reckless" plea deal — a lesser offense usually offered to first-time offenders, or when an incident lacks accidents, injuries, or involves minimal blood alcohol levels.
Britney’s lawyer submitted her guilty plea for the reduced charge in court. The "Toxic" singer must complete a three-month alcohol education program and has been placed on informal probation for one year.
“Through her plea, Britney acknowledged responsibility for her actions,” her lawyer Michael Goldstein shared with Page Six after the legal proceedings.
“She has initiated substantial actions for positive change, which clearly influenced the Ventura County District Attorney’s decision to lessen the charge and dismiss the DUI. Britney values this discretion and deeply appreciates the heartfelt support she's been shown.”
On Thursday (April 30), prosecutors charged Spears with one misdemeanor count of “driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.”
The Grammy winner willingly entered a treatment center on April 12, a choice that an insider previously explained to Page Six as “entirely her decision.”
“This doesn't revolve around a singular substance, serving a dual purpose…this is about Britney prioritising her mental health and making time to focus on what truly matters to her,” the source elaborated.
Nevertheless, Britney’s absence from the family event raises more questions about her relationship status with the Spears family.
Recently, Sean Preston altered his name to “Sean P Spears” via Instagram, which may suggest a closer connection with his iconic mother.
However, a source informed Page Six in March that Britney finds any hint of her father’s involvement in her life unsettling after her conservatorship — led by Jamie — was terminated in 2021.
