Tori Spelling revisits ’90s fashion influence and teases 'Tori 2.0' comeback era
The actress describes herself as an 'OG fashion starter' reflecting on her early influence.
Tori Spelling is reflecting on her enduring influence on 1990s fashion, saying her early Hollywood upbringing helped shape what she calls her “OG fashion starter” identity.
Speaking at the World Accreditation Celebration for Calamigos Ranch Resort & Spa in Malibu, California, the Beverly Hills, 90210 star said she is reconnecting with her style roots and embracing a renewed creative phase in fashion.
“Through the ’80s, ’90s, I think growing up, my mom always had the most iconic style, and seeing it through my dad’s lens of everything he did through movies and TV — I’m really kind of finding my roots again,” Spelling said.
The actress, daughter of legendary TV producer Aaron Spelling and socialite Candy Spelling, rose to fame as a teenager through her breakout role as Donna Martin on Beverly Hills, 90210.
She previously appeared in smaller roles, including a part on Saved by the Bell, before becoming a defining face of ’90s television culture.
“I think I was kind of an OG fashion starter, and I want to continue that,” she added, noting that fashion has remained a long-standing passion throughout her life.
Spelling also shared that her five children—Liam, Stella, Hattie, Finn and Beau, whom she shares with ex-husband Dean McDermott—each have their own evolving sense of style.
“They’re really into fashion, every single one of them in a different way,” she said. “Fashion is about how it makes you feel. It’s about finding your unique perspective.”
The actress said she enjoys revisiting past fashion eras with her children, especially as ’90s trends continue to make a cultural comeback in recent years.
She cited renewed interest in nostalgic styles as an opportunity to share personal stories from her early Hollywood days.
“It was really cool to be able to tell them stories about going through that time and making it current now,” she said.
Spelling also hinted at a personal reinvention, saying a new “Tori 2.0” phase is emerging as she looks to re-establish herself in the fashion space.
Despite years of public scrutiny over her appearance, Spelling said she has learned to embrace her public image and ignore long-running speculation.
“The one thing for me that has stuck forever was the plastic surgery thing,” she previously said, noting that she has only had minimal procedures and has often been the subject of exaggerated rumors.
