Spencer Pratt pushes back on rumors of reality show following his political bid
The former 'The Hills' star is running for mayor of Los Angeles
Reality star Spencer Pratt has denied reports claiming that his bid to become Mayor of Los Angeles is being turned into a reality television series.
The former The Hills star, 42, is currently running for mayor alongside incumbent Karen Bass and Councilwoman Nithya Raman, after announcing his candidacy earlier this year.
Reports from TMZ and Deadline had suggested that Pratt’s campaign was being filmed for an unscripted series, with claims that production company Boardwalk Pictures was involved and that the project could potentially follow his political journey in real time.
However, a representative for Pratt has firmly rejected those claims, telling The Wrap that no such project exists.
“This is inaccurate. There is no series in production and cameras have not been following the campaign,” the spokesperson said, adding that Pratt has no signed contract connected to any television production. “No contract exists related to this because it isn’t true.”
Pratt publicly announced his mayoral run in January, positioning himself as an outsider candidate aiming to reform what he has described as a “fundamentally broken” system in Los Angeles.
His decision to enter politics came after he and his wife, Heidi Montag, lost their home in the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, an experience Pratt has said left him feeling isolated and disillusioned.
Speaking previously to Us Weekly, he described struggling in the aftermath of the disaster, saying he felt “in an abyss” while trying to rebuild his life and navigate financial and personal challenges.
Despite the recent media speculation, Pratt has continued to outline a reform-focused campaign, arguing that the city’s political system is failing residents.
“The system in Los Angeles isn’t struggling; it’s fundamentally broken,” he previously said. “Business as usual is a death sentence for Los Angeles, and I’m done waiting for someone to take real action. That’s why I am running for mayor.”
