Global rights acquired by Adler & Associates for AI drama 'The Zebras'

Adler & Associates Entertainment has secured the global distribution rights to the Indian indie film The Zebras, directed by filmmaker Aneek Chaudhuri from Kolkata.

Based in Los Angeles, this sales and distribution company will manage the film’s sales globally outside of North America, highlighting curated theatre releases, streaming platforms, and institutional screenings.

Labelled as a psychological drama, The Zebras is set in a near-future version of Kolkata where artificial intelligence takes over genuine human creativity and emotions. The plot centres on a well-known photographer who leverages AI-crafted images and fabricated online horror stories to achieve fame, inadvertently causing upheaval and fear in the city.

Meanwhile, Sumehra, a model experiencing a decline in her career due to AI, fights to keep afloat by perpetuating the cycle of deception and illusory content.

The movie first screened at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne in 2024 and was subsequently released in Los Angeles by Double Exposure, responsible for its North American distribution.

Produced by India's Yulin Productions, the film features a cast led by Sharib Hashmi (The Family Man), Priyanka Sarkar, and Usha Banerjee.

Director Aneek Chaudhuri commented: “The Zebras was crafted as a deeply introspective and philosophical piece exploring the evolving dynamic between humans and artificial intelligence.

Partnering with Adler & Associates to reach a global audience is significant as the film was designed to transcend geographic and language limitations.”
