Jimmy Kimmel debunks Cavaliers-Pistons rigging theory via 'The Bachelorette'

Jimmy Kimmel returned to his ABC late-night show this Monday following a week in New York, where he participated in the Disney upfront presentation, delivering his traditional roast.

He talked about the NBA playoffs and addressed a theory about the Eastern Conference semifinal between the Pistons and the Cavaliers.

The Pistons drew level at three games each, but the Cavaliers secured Game 7 and will now face the Knicks in the Eastern Conference final.

“Some assert that the series was manipulated in favour of the Cavaliers by the league due to a promo aired on our network ABC the day before Game 7,” Kimmel stated, showcasing the promo that hinted, “The Eastern Conference Finals: Cavaliers-Knicks Game 1 on ESPN.”

The day following the promo's airing, Game 7 confirmed the “predicted” result.

“ABC mentioned it was an accidental airing, and I trust them,” Kimmel remarked. “If ABC could foresee the future, we wouldn’t have wasted $20M on a canceled season of The Bachelorette.”

In March, ABC pulled Season 22 of The Bachelorette mere days before its premiere, as Taylor Frankie Paul was involved in a domestic assault controversy.

Two months have passed, and there’s still no news on whether the season will air on ABC or Hulu.
