Ricky Martin returns to stage after tear gas incident disrupts Montenegro concert

Ricky Martin is safe after a tear gas incident briefly disrupted the opening night of his European tour in Montenegro on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

According to his publicist Róndine Alcalá, the incident occurred when “an individual discharged tear gas toward the stage,” forcing an immediate pause in the concert as fans moved away from the affected area and staff rushed to assist.

Martin, 54, and his team exited the stage as a precaution while security personnel and local authorities worked to contain the situation and ensure the safety of everyone in attendance. The disruption led to a temporary evacuation of parts of the venue.

After authorities confirmed the situation was under control, the concert was allowed to resume.

Despite advice from members of his team to end the show, Martin reportedly returned to the stage and continued performing in order to fulfill his commitment to fans.

In a statement, Alcalá confirmed that both the singer and his team are safe and thanked audiences for their concern and support following the incident.

She also noted that the Ricky Martin Live tour will continue as scheduled across Europe and other international dates.

Concertgoers later praised the singer for continuing the performance despite the interruption, with some describing the moment as chaotic but ultimately well-managed by security and staff.
