Jessie J declares she is cancer-free nearly a year after breast cancer diagnosis

Jessie J has shared a deeply emotional health update, revealing she is officially cancer-free nearly a year after first being diagnosed with breast cancer.

On Thursday, May 21, the 38-year-old singer posted an Instagram Reel documenting a recent hospital visit for a routine follow-up checkup.

In the video, Jessie—born Jessica Cornish—spoke candidly as she prepared for an MRI scan, admitting she felt anxious ahead of the procedure.

“I’m actually s---ing myself, I’m not gonna lie,” she said in the clip, adding that she was preparing for the scan while joking through her nerves.

She also described the MRI process in typical candid fashion, noting patients must lie face down with their arms raised “like Superman,” before adding, “Positive vibes,” as she sang Bob Marley’s Don’t Worry About a Thing.

The video ended before her results were revealed, but Jessie later confirmed the life-changing news in the caption.

“RESULTS ARE IN, AND I AM CANCER FREE [emojis] I sobbed for hours and then exhaled for the first time in a year,” she wrote.

Jessie first announced in June 2025 that she had been diagnosed with “early” breast cancer while promoting her album Don’t Tease Me with a Good Time.

She later underwent a mastectomy as part of her treatment.

The “Price Tag” singer has since been open about her recovery journey, blending humor with honesty. During a January performance in New York City, she reflected on the timing of her diagnosis, joking that it was “the most rudest thing that my boobs could’ve ever have done” ahead of her album release.

She also shared how the experience reshaped her outlook on life, describing a period where she felt like “Jessica and Jessie J had to hold each other” through treatment and recovery.

Jessie, who shares her son Sky, 3, with boyfriend Chanan Safir Colman, said the experience ultimately unified different parts of her identity.

Speaking to fans at the same show, she encouraged those facing illness to hold on and focus on well-being, adding that while positivity doesn’t cure illness, it can offer strength and support.

Jessie’s announcement marks a major milestone in her health journey, coming nearly 11 months after her diagnosis and surgery.
