Sam Levinson urges fans to watch ‘Euphoria’ finale episodes immediately to avoid spoilers
The showrunner teased 'big things' in episodes seven and eight of the HBO series
Sam Levinson has warned fans of Euphoria to tune in to the final two episodes of the show’s third season “the moment they drop,” hinting that major developments could quickly be spoiled online.
Speaking at an American Cinematheque screening for the episode Stand Still and See, the 41-year-old showrunner said the concluding episodes contain significant turning points that viewers should not delay watching.
“If you’re not watching episodes seven and eight live — the moment they drop — they will get spoiled,” Levinson said. “There’s some big things that happen.”
The third season of HBO’s Euphoria, which is set five years after the events of earlier seasons and is widely expected to be the series’ final chapter, has received a mixed critical response. However, Levinson defended the season, calling it “hands down our best season.”
He added that the upcoming episodes, particularly the finale, reach an emotional depth and visual style he considers the strongest work of the series so far.
“I think particularly episode eight reaches a level of poignancy that I could only dream of when I was first working on this show,” he said, also praising the season’s cinematography and symbolic imagery.
Levinson also highlighted the contribution of composer Hans Zimmer, who provided the score for the season.
“Hans Zimmer has been such a blessing,” he said, noting the scale of the musical work across multiple genres and episodes. “It’s astounding and I’m so proud of it.”
The series, which stars Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and Jacob Elordi, has also faced discussion around its intense and explicit storytelling, particularly involving the character Cassie Howard.
Addressing performances on set, Levinson praised Sweeney’s ability to elevate scenes through repeated takes, saying she can reach moments of strong emotional and comedic impact while navigating chaotic scenes.
