Prince William visits St Mary's in the Isles of Scilly to meet patients and staff
Prince William returned to royal duties with a visit to the Isles of Scilly after Istanbul
Prince William paid an official visit on Friday to St Mary's — the largest and most densely populated island in the Isles of Scilly, situated off the south-west coast of Cornwall, England.
Back to work after Istanbul
The Prince of Wales travelled more than 400 kilometres from his home at Forest Lodge to carry out the engagement, resuming his public duties following a trip to Istanbul, where he watched his beloved Aston Villa claim victory in the Europa League.
Arriving by pilot boat
The Kensington Palace communications team shared a video of the Prince's arrival, accompanying it with the caption:
"Scilly by sea. Arriving on St Mary's aboard the new pilot boat John Guy, funded by The Duchy of Cornwall. The vessel plays a vital role in keeping island waters safe and supporting daily life for the Scillonian community."
Hospital visit, emergency services, and tree planting
During the visit, William toured the island's hospital, where he met both patients and members of staff.
The future king also spent time with local emergency responders before planting a replacement Monterey pine — a gesture intended to reflect the islands' recovery, resilience, and long-term renewal.
A further post shared on The Prince and Princess of Wales' official social media accounts read:
"Proud of the work we've been doing with our partners to open a new hospital facility designed to strengthen healthcare provision on the Isles of Scilly.
"The community‑led extension brings services together, improving access, continuity of care and resilience in a remote island setting."
