Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was arrested in Wisconsin on Tuesday, following an alleged domestic violence incident on Saturday, according to Brown County Jail records seen by PEOPLE.

Police alerted to early morning disturbance

The Hobart-Lawrence Police Department was alerted to a disturbance complaint "involving Jacobs" at 8:37 am local time on Saturday, according to a press release shared by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Police have not released any further details and confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing.

Athlete denies allegations

Jacobs's legal team swiftly issued a statement on his behalf. "Josh vehemently denies the allegations, and this matter is in the early stages of investigation with important evidence that has not yet been made public," his attorneys said in a statement shared with PEOPLE. "We ask for fairness and restraint while the judicial process takes its course."

NFL responds

The NFL confirmed in a statement that it is "aware of the report" and has "been in contact with the club," per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. The Packers did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.
