Two siblings killed in alleged domestic violence shooting as mother shares heartbreak

A Virginia mother who survived a shooting that killed her two children says the tragedy has permanently changed her life as the man accused in the attack faces multiple serious charges.

Tiffany Terry, 38, was injured in the April 21 shooting in Richmond, Virginia, that claimed the lives of her son, 18-year-old Zion Terry, and daughter, 14-year-old Sadie Terry.

Authorities arrested Tiffany’s former partner, Levy Nelson, later that same day. Prosecutors allege Nelson shot all three victims during what police described as a domestic-related incident.

Zion died at the scene, while Sadie succumbed to her injuries several days later.

According to local reports, Nelson was Sadie’s father and Zion’s stepfather. Court records show he now faces numerous charges, including two counts of aggravated murder, firearm offenses, malicious assault, child abuse, and possession of a weapon by a violent felon.

Two lesser charges — malicious wounding and felony firearm use — were recently dropped in juvenile and domestic court because equivalent charges are being pursued in Richmond City Circuit Court, according to local outlets.

As Tiffany continues recovering from non-life-threatening injuries, she has also spoken publicly about the emotional devastation caused by the loss of her children.

“A mother is not supposed to bury their children, but unfortunately, this has happened to me and it has changed me,” she told local outlet 12 On Your Side.

Rather than focusing solely on the tragedy, Tiffany said she wants people to remember Zion and Sadie for the lives they lived and the futures they hoped to build.

Sadie reportedly dreamed of joining the military, while Zion planned to pursue a career in nursing.

Friends and loved ones described Sadie — affectionately known as “Sweet Sadie” — as both “sassy and sweet,” with a love for TikTok and beauty content. Zion was remembered as a standout student-athlete and member of the National Honor Society.

“Zion had a heart of gold and shared love with everyone he encountered,” his obituary stated.

A GoFundMe campaign has since been launched to support Tiffany as she recovers physically and emotionally while caring for her surviving child.

Authorities have not publicly announced further details regarding plea information or legal representation for Nelson as the case proceeds through court.
