David Beckham honoured on Walk of Fame as Brooklyn stays away
Brooklyn Beckham was absent as David Beckham received a Hollywood Walk of Fame star
David Beckham received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday, June 12, in Los Angeles, but eldest son Brooklyn Beckham was absent from the ceremony amid the family's ongoing estrangement.
The former England football captain was joined by wife Victoria Beckham and children Romeo, Cruz and Harper as he accepted the honour. Brooklyn's absence comes months after tensions between him and his family became public.
David Beckham Thanks Family During Ceremony
Speaking at the event, Beckham thanked his family as he reflected on a career that took him from east London to global sporting fame.
"My parents and my sisters, who always supported my dreams. Victoria, my amazing wife for almost 30 years. Without whom, none of this would be possible or as enjoyable. And my beautiful children, who are the reason that I get out of the bed in the morning," he said, as per People.
Beckham became emotional while addressing his children.
"Kids — I'm going to get emotional now — I hope you bring my grandchildren here one day and tell them about a boy who dreamed big," he said. "To make you all proud is my greatest achievement."
Victoria Beckham also paid tribute to her husband, praising his dedication and determination.
"He believed that if he worked hard and dreamed big enough, anything was possible," she said.
Brooklyn Beckham's Absence Follows Family Fallout
Brooklyn, 27, and wife Nicola Peltz Beckham have been estranged from David and Victoria Beckham in recent months.
In January, Brooklyn publicly addressed the dispute in a series of Instagram Stories, accusing his parents and their representatives of taking private family matters to the press.
"I have been silent for years and have made every attempt to keep these matters private," he wrote. "I do not want to reconcile with my family."
He also alleged that his parents had attempted to interfere in his marriage to Nicola.
Family Declines to Discuss Rift Publicly
Victoria recently addressed the situation in an interview with WSJ. Magazine, saying only that she and David love their children and have always tried to be the best parents they can be.
Meanwhile, David declined to discuss the family dispute in a recent interview with Variety, describing it as a "private matter."
Brooklyn was last seen publicly at the Tribeca Festival in New York on June 8, four days before his father's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.
