Jane Seymour shares hilarious details of Malibu proposal gone wrong

Jane Seymour has confirmed her engagement to musician John Zambetti and revealed the unexpectedly chaotic and humorous circumstances in which he proposed at their Malibu home.

The Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman star sparked speculation earlier this week after appearing on the red carpet wearing a diamond ring. She later confirmed the engagement in an interview with People, sharing intimate details of the proposal.

According to Seymour and Zambetti, the moment did not go entirely according to plan.

Zambetti explained that he went down on one knee and retrieved the ring from a safe, but the proposal quickly turned into confusion when the ring slipped from its box and fell onto the bed.

He said he then ended up crawling under the bed to retrieve it, but became stuck and needed help getting back out.

“And then I couldn’t get out, and she had to get out of the bed and pull me out,” he said.

Seymour added with a laugh that the situation became even more unexpected.

“And we weren’t wearing any clothes!” she said, noting that the moment also involved “serious bedhead” and a lot of laughter.

The actress said the funniest part was watching her fiancé struggle to get up afterward, joking that they ended up laughing hysterically together at the chaotic scene.

Zambetti also shared the personal meaning behind the ring design, which features two stones connected by a pavé pathway. He said it symbolized their individual journeys leading them together.

“I thought it was the two of us together, and our past lives each leading up to us being together,” he explained.

Now engaged, the couple is preparing to plan their wedding. It will mark Seymour’s fifth marriage, though she said she feels deeply certain about this relationship.

She described feeling “pure unconditional love and support,” while also reflecting on past hardships and emotional challenges in relationships.

“I’ve been through betrayals. I’ve been through a lot of ups and downs in life,” she said, adding that Zambetti is the “kindest, most intelligent, loving, caring, giving human being” she has ever met.

Despite her past experiences, Seymour said she feels ready to embrace this new chapter with optimism and trust.
