Yeonjun reveals creative freedom behind new solo music ahead of second EP release
The K-pop star says working on his solo music became a process of self-discovery and personal growth
The K-pop star, known as a member of the boy group TOMORROW X TOGETHER, is set to return with his new project on July 10, just months after making his solo debut with No Labels: Part 01.
Yeonjun announced the upcoming EP through the fan platform Weverse, followed by a teaser video released on June 15 that showed a more personal side of the artist.
The clip featured him enjoying simple everyday moments, including getting ready, relaxing at home, and dancing around his room.
The anticipation continued when TXT’s official social media channels unveiled the lead single “Ice Cream” on June 18. The teaser showed Yeonjun stepping onto an ice cream truck before hinting at the track’s upbeat sound with a groovy bassline.
The new release follows the success of No Labels: Part 01, which marked Yeonjun’s first solo project and debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 chart.
The debut EP featured a six-minute music video highlighting three tracks, including lead single “Talk to You” and his collaboration with KATSEYE member Daniela on “Let Me Tell You.”
Yeonjun played a major role in shaping the project, serving as a co-writer on five of the EP’s six songs and contributing as a co-choreographer for his performances.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Yeonjun described the creative process as an enjoyable and meaningful experience, saying he had “so much fun” while making the music.
“Before working on this album, I wonder if I was a person who could be described as someone with no labels,” he said while reflecting on the meaning behind his solo debut.
He explained that creating the album helped him understand himself better and become closer to the person represented by the title No Labels.
“Through this album, I was able to know more about myself. It was a process of learning about me,” Yeonjun shared.
