Actor Wyatt Russell and Actress Margo Seibert have praised Emily Blunt's talent, range and sense of humour on the set of Steven Spielberg's new science-fiction film, Disclosure Day. Both performers described what it was like sharing scenes with the Devil Wears Prada and A Quiet Place star.
Russell and Seibert spoke to PEOPLE on the red carpet at the film's New York City premiere on Monday, held at Lincoln Center.
Wyatt Russell on working with Emily Blunt
In Disclosure Day, Russell, 39, spends much of his screen time opposite Blunt, 43. She plays Margaret Fairchild, a local meteorologist who suddenly develops the ability to read minds, while he plays her laid-back musician boyfriend.
Asked what it was like working with Blunt, Russell called the experience "incredible." He said her command, range and depth as an actress are matched by her warmth as a person, which makes the work enjoyable.
Russell added that much of his job involves reacting to Blunt's performance, so being a good listener was essential. He said working with an actress of her calibre raises his own game and called it a gift that keeps on giving.
Margo Seibert recalls humour behind the scenes
Seibert plays one of Margaret's colleagues at KCXE, the fictional Kansas City television station where Blunt's character works. She told PEOPLE she was looking forward to seeing the scenes she shared with Blunt.
Asked who the funniest member of the cast was, Seibert said she believes Blunt is "quite silly." She recalled one particularly serious scene in which the pair decided, in the moment, to bring some levity to the material.
Seibert explained that infusing tense or frightening moments with humour is a natural human response, and that this dynamic was a constant presence throughout filming.
Neil deGrasse Tyson praises Blunt's performance
Although not part of the cast, Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, 67, also attended the premiere. He arrived in a galaxy-print shirt and offered his own take on Spielberg's latest exploration of extraterrestrial life.
Tyson had already seen the film ahead of its New York premiere. Asked to name his favourite performance from a cast that also includes Josh O'Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson and Colman Domingo, he chose Blunt.
Tyson joked that the film should have been renamed "Emily's Face," noting that nearly every scene shows her reacting to another character.
