Jaime King breaks silence on skipping Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding

Jaime King has addressed why she and her son, Leo Thames—whose godmother is Taylor Swift—were absent from the singer's lavish wedding to Travis Kelce.

The actress, who has shared a close friendship with Swift for more than a decade, sparked curiosity among fans after neither she nor 10-year-old Leo attended the couple's July 3 wedding celebration at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Responding to the speculation, King's representative explained that Swift's role as Leo's godmother has always been rooted in a deeply personal and spiritual connection rather than public appearances.

"The reason Jaime chose Taylor as Leo Thames's godmother is because they both believe that being a godmother is a deeply personal and spiritual commitment that has nothing to do with public appearances," the statement said.

The spokesperson also noted that Leo was considered too young to attend such a large adult celebration.

"Leo Thames is still too young for a large adult wedding celebration. But he and his mother were able to joyfully celebrate Taylor and Kelce's marriage in his own very special, age-appropriate way during his summer break," the representative added.

King and Swift have been close friends since 2014, the same year the actress announced the Grammy-winning singer would serve as Leo's godmother.

Their friendship also extended professionally, with King's former husband, director Kyle Newman, directing Swift's 2015 music video for Style.

Before the wedding, King publicly expressed her excitement over Swift's engagement to Kelce, saying she believed the NFL star was "her person" and that she was thrilled for the couple.

Swift and Kelce exchanged vows on July 3 during a star-studded ceremony attended by roughly 1,000 guests, following an intimate rehearsal dinner the night before.

Friends of the newlyweds said the couple took time to personally thank guests throughout the celebration and exchanged heartfelt, personalized vows during the ceremony.
