American actor Kevin Bacon paid an emotional Bonnie Tyler tribute on July 8, 2026, following the unexpected death of the iconic rock singer in Portugal at the age of 75. The poignant remembrance occurred on the 68th birthday of the Hollywood star, who famously played the lead character in the acclaimed film project that featured her music. Tyler passed away in a Portuguese hospital on Wednesday night as a result of the illness that she was being treated for.

The actor shared his emotional words directly with the media following the announcement of her passing. Entertainment Weekly reported that Bacon praised the late vocalist as one of the great voices of rock music. An official statement published on the musician's website confirmed that her family and team were completely heartbroken to announce the sudden loss. The online update stated that the team will issue a further statement shortly, but requested absolute privacy for everyone to deal with the tragedy.

The late singer previously underwent intestinal surgery to address her medical condition. Medical professionals chose to place her into an induced coma before the operation took place at the facility. Although she eventually awoke from the induced coma in June, doctors advised keeping Tyler in intensive care for further treatment. She remained inside the hospital in Portugal until she passed away from the illness she was being treated for.

Bacon originally starred as the defiant teenager Ren McCormack in the 1984 musical drama Footloose. The popular musical drama featured a track titled Holding Out for a Hero, which became a stunning hit across the globe. Reflecting on the iconic cinematic scene, the actor noted that he could not imagine chicken racing a tractor to any other song. Directed by Herbert Ross, the project earned over $80 million worldwide on a modest $7 million budget. Tyler also secured major success with several other hit tracks to her name, such as Total Eclipse of the Heart.
