Alysa Liu stuns in goth-glam look at the 2026 ESPYS
The Olympic figure skating champion showcased her goth-glam style and lower back tattoo
Olympic figure skating champion Alysa Liu brought gothic elegance to the red carpet at the 2026 ESPY Awards, where she not only made a striking fashion statement but also celebrated one of the biggest milestones of her career.
The 21-year-old athlete attended the ceremony in New York City on Wednesday, July 15, wearing a daring black halter gown with a plunging neckline, draped bodice and a short flowing train.
The bold design revealed a lower back tattoo, while a black cross choker added to the goth-inspired aesthetic.
Liu completed the look with her signature striped hair styled in an elegant updo, leaving a few face-framing strands loose.
She kept her makeup understated with soft pink blush and a nude lip, allowing the dramatic outfit to take center stage.
The appearance came on a memorable night for Liu, who took home the ESPY Award for Best Breakthrough Athlete.
She earned the honor after defeating fellow nominees Macklin Celebrini of the San Jose Sharks, New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye and Las Vegas Raiders rookie Fernando Mendoza.
Liu's award follows an extraordinary season that saw her make history at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.
After returning to competitive skating following her retirement in 2022, she captured gold in the women's singles event, becoming the first American woman in 24 years to win the Olympic title. She also helped Team USA secure gold in the team competition, completing a remarkable comeback.
The ESPYS appearance is the latest in a series of standout fashion moments for the Olympic champion.
Earlier this year, Liu made her Met Gala debut in a dramatic Louis Vuitton gown featuring a voluminous satin-and-tulle skirt and a strapless bodice in deep red.
Speaking about the look, she said she loved the gown's unique silhouette and rich color, noting that dark red is one of her favorites and describing it as a lucky color in Chinese culture.
She later showcased a completely different style at the American Music Awards, embracing an edgier look with a leather jacket, black skirt and statement nail jewelry that complemented her signature "smiley" lip piercing. During the ceremony, Liu also presented the award for Best Rock/Alternative Artist to Twenty One Pilots.
From making Olympic history to collecting major honors and delivering memorable fashion moments, 2026 continues to be a landmark year for Alysa Liu.
